alex's life book

  • In early 2006, I began creating a life book for my daughter, Alex. Click here for links to articles describing my experience.
  • And for those of you who are more digitally inclined, in late 2006, I recreated key pages of Alex's lifebook for an article I wrote for AlphaMom, using Scrapblog.

You can see the final digital result (and leave comments, if you'd like!) here.

Too cute! My kids actually play something similiar with each other.

Must be a kid thing, huh?

Rose does the exact same thing...except she makes us cover her entire body with stuffed animals until she is buried. Then when she wakes up, she hurls all the animals across the room- very similar expressions!

Ah, the life of a two-year-old. Such a smile!

I remember those hours! Thank you for sharing and reminding me of the games my kids used to play. Alex is heartbreakingly beautiful. She looks like she smiles with her whole being.

Heather B.

My cousin used to do the same thing, except she would "sleep" and then want to be wakened Wiggles style, which meant that I'd have to scream "Wake up Jeff!" at the top of my lungs at her. Then we'd do it over and over again for like an hour.
By the time she left, I'd be ready for a glass of wine. It's cute the first four times, but after 'waking' her up for the 57th time, it gets annoying.

I see someone already beat me to the Wiggles punch (and oh, wouldn't it be nice if we could punch them all, lol). My son, who is 2 1/2 also plays the "Wake up Jeff!" game for hours.
Or he WOULD play it for hours, if only mommy and daddy would continue to WAKE UP and shake our heads over and over and over and over and over until they actually did explode.

How funny!!!! Isn't it great to have that innocence? Beautiful pictures BTW! Although I guess it helps to have such a wonderful person to photograph. :)

She is so beautiful and your pictures are just amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this joy with us. What GREAT pictures.

Something archetypical in that sleep/wake/sleep/wake cycle, no? A fear/joy cycle? leaving/return? Peekaboo's next level?

Just goes to show you, kids are the same the world over. That's one of my toddler's favorite games as well. I'm still trying to figure out what the attraction is . . .

I loved this.....what priceless pictures! She is so gorgeous...and happy!!

The game she plays every minute of every day, being beautiful and precocious!

Dorothy does the same thing, over and over and over....

She also does it with dolls - putting them to bed, patting their backs, waking them up, putting them back to bed.

You tell yourself they're learning...something. If only we could figure out what. ;-)

Cute pictures of the always beautiful Alex.

I used to do a similar thing, but I was pretending like I was Sleeping Beauty (which, by the way, last time I watched that, it was a bit scary. Can't believe I liked that but was afraid of ET. Weird.) and my dad would have to come and kiss me (nose, forehead, cheek, etc..) About a million times. Such patience he had.

If Alex wasn't so darn cute, I might see how this could get just a teeny weeny bit ... um... boring?

I just lost the mother of the year contest, I know.

Your daughter is DARLING. I found you through Blogging Baby, I love your articles. I came over here to post how gorgeous your daughter is! BEAUTY!

Ouch, Alex just poked me with her eyelashes. ;)

Jerri Ann

That Girl! SHe is adorable and her mom is pretty darn awesome herself!

i like the comment about that being the version 2.0 of peekaboo! we are still in the 1.0 version, and let me tell you... it was fun the first million times. but at 3am? not so much. ha!

also, really nice to see a child playing outside in the grass. as a southerner who grew up on lots of land, and who is curently in the land of "concrete giants", that image always touches something in me, you know?

Oh, I do that all the time.
You know - I think I've just realise why I'm single.

that's some feat: to act like you're sleeping and act like you don't see the camera capturing you acting like you don't see it.

stori's mama

Oh, this is my Stori to a tee! There is nothing funnier than DOING this for hours and hours!

Hi, I came across ur blog and instantly fell in love with Alex. She's totally super cute and beautiful. Do you mind if i use one of her pictures in my video making project? I'm sort of putting beautiful pictures with a music song background by TIM HUGHES - Everything, and gonna post in youtube. Looking forward for your response. God bless you and your family.
